Longsight / Shortsight
Roxana Allison
Longsight / Shortsight is a photographic project originating from my interest and commitment to highlight positive initiatives of my community, Longsight, a densely populated multicultural inner-city neighbourhood in south-east Manchester, and the environment in which they occur.
Through giving exposure and recognition to the individuals and grass-roots organisations cultivating positive change in Longsight, the project aims to encourage a more positive perception of its resilient and committed community from the inside out.
The venues in which I photograph my sitters are connected to their work and it is the setting of their choice, the one where they feel most comfortable to be portrayed in.
